Zen Buddhist Chaplain said as a new member of the Chaplaincy team, I enjoy meeting people of different faiths. Of course, there are both similarities and differences. It makes life interesting. Today was my first visit to a Gurdwara in Scunthorpe. We accompanied 23 students to the Gurdwara on the day Sikhs celebrate the birthday of Guru Nanak.
The ‘Langar’ (free kitchen) served us delicious food, lovingly prepared. Langar expresses the oneness of humanity – a belief also shared by Buddhists like me. Everyone at the Gurdwara was very welcoming and looked after us like old friends. They are good people. If you have never visited, I recommend that you do.
